Company events are a great way to reward your employees with some fun outside of the usual work tasks; when you have them socializing outside of getting work done, it can sure up the relationships they have when they need to be more serious and work together. Hosting a karaoke night, casino night with casino games and promotional prize wheel, a company picnic, or various charitable events can all be ways that you can break away from work and enjoy the company of your employees.
Karaoke Night
Sure, your employees and co-workers may not be the next Adele, but that doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy belting out a few numbers. Karaoke can be a fun way to let everyone let their hair down and relax with each other in a non-work setting. For a karaoke night, look to see if there are any bars or restaurants in your area that feature a night; often times, local bars will have a set day of the week in which they have a karaoke night. In the chance that you cannot find a place that offers this, you can rent a karaoke machine from just about any party rental store and hold the event at the office. It may not be the most ideal “non-work” setting, but how much work is going to really be done during someone’s rendition of “Call Me Maybe”?
Casino Night
Of course, real gambling on office property is most likely illegal, but there’s no reason you can’t have some fun and games while the money goes to charity. Some companies do hold casino nights with all the fun table games that you would find if you decided to take a trip to Atlantic City or Las Vegas. Roulette wheels, craps tables, or even slot machines can be rented for a night of high stakes fun. That doesn’t mean that your co-workers have to go home completely empty handed. You can have raffles or a promotional prize wheel where your workers can win a whole bunch of different prizes.
Company Picnic
The summer months can come and go fast when you work in an office. You can forget how nice the weather can be outside when you’re stuck in an air-conditioned office all day. Schedule one day during the year when you close down the office and have some outdoor fun with your co-workers. Team sports can be a great way to implement team-building exercises into a day in nature. Games like softball, volleyball, or basketball can be a fun way to get everyone working as a team in the great outdoors. It can also be an opportunity for the people you work with to interact with each other in a non-office setting, which can aide their work relationships as well.
Various Charitable Drives
Giving back for a certain cause can really bring your company together. Holding charitable drives during the year not only builds a community feeling in your office, but it also gives back to the community around the office place. Blood drives, food drives, or drives for school supplies are all great causes that your company can get involved in and help the greater good.
When dealing with your co-workers and employees, it is first a business relationship, but ever so often, it is a good idea to relax a bit and think of something other than work.
